Oracle has announced the release of the new Oracle VM VirtualBox 3.2.0. The virtualization software gets a new name thanks to Oracle’s Sun acquisition having completed recently, a lot of new features as well. VirtualBox 3.2.0 comes with support for the latest Intel hardware and with a completely re-written storage I/O subsystem.
With it you can run multiple operating systems at the same time with this award winning, easy to use, no cost desktop virtualization product. VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. This version is a major update.
The Following New Features Added:
- the software has been renamed Oracle VM VirtualBox and all branded components have been updated, where possible;
- support for the Unrestricted Guest Execution feature in Intel Core i5, Core i7 and Xeon 5600 Series processors;
- dynamic memory ‘ballooning,’ enabling 64-bit hosts to adjust the amount of memory dedicated to a VM on the fly;
- Large Page support for increased performance;
- Page Fusion, a new feature that de-duplicates RAM used by similar VMs;
- vCPU hot-plugging for Linux and some Windows guests;
- snapshots can now be deleted while the VM is running;
- USB tablet/keyboard emulation;
- a virtual SAS controller, emulating the LsiLogic SAS controller;
- RDP video acceleration;
- Guest Automation API;
- multi-monitor support in Windows guests;
- limited, experimental support for Mac OS X guests;
- support for desktop and server versions of Ubuntu “Lucid Lynx” 10.04 LTS;
- support for Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5.
There are several other new features in the new VirtualBox 3.2.0 and plenty of bug fixes. A bug that prevented users from installing the Guest Additions in Fedora 13 was fixed. Several issues with 3D support were also resolved.

Please note that the package architecture must fit your host operating system architecture. So if you are running a 32-bit kernel on a 64-bit capable CPU you have to install the 32-bit version (x86/amd64).
