Gmail introduced the rich text signatures for users. Now Gmail users will be able to make their signature looks more cool and also add images or logos to their email signature following improvements to Google’s web-based email service. Rich text signatures have long been one of our most widely requested features. Some users have tried their own solutions, including Greasemonkey scripts, browser plugins, and even using canned responses from Gmail Labs.
Until now Gmail has only supported plain text signatures, but the addition of rich text support will enable users to add company logos, fancy formatting or web and mail links to elements of the text.
According to Mark Knichel, Software Engineer at gmail blog, rich-text signatures had been one of the “most requested” features among Gmail users. "Others have simply lived with frustration of not being able to change the colors or font size of your signature, or insert images and links. Either way, you'll be happy to know that today we're launching the ability to write your own rich text signatures right in Gmail."
"Gmail also now supports a unique signature for each email address associated with your account. So, if you send mail using a custom "From:" address, you can use a different signature for that address. From the Settings page, you can edit the signature for each account by changing the email address that appears in the dropdown menu."
The new rich text editor can be accessed from a user’s Settings page, and users can set a unique signature for each individual email address associated with an account. But only the latest desktop version of Gmail would support rich-text signatures. The older version and HTML version of Gmail, along with the mobile versions, use a plain text version of your primary account’s signature.
