NVIDIA planing to launch a successor of Tegra 2 next month at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress. Tegra 3 is quad–core processor for smartphones and still have no idea about the official specs of Tegra 3. Tegra 3 is expected to be a quad-core cortex A9 offering with a GeForce 8 or 9 series GPU that supports CUDA.
NVIDIA is basically a graphics card maker and uccessfully entered the mobile are. Already a lot of smartphones and tablets launched that powered with NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processors. Tegra 2 is a dual-core mobile process and based on system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology.
Companies like Apple and Qualcomm are also expected to announce dual-core solutions in the coming months.
NVIDIA’s Tegra GM, Mike Rayfield said in an interview to Hexus, "I'm going to come pretty close to my cadence of a launch every year. It will be in production around the same time as my competitors' first dual-cores will."
A quad–core processor for mobile phone is seems very high where still not everyone has a quad–core and even dual–core desktop computer yet.
