WordPress 3.0 Downloaded Over 30 Million Times and Powered 16.7 million Blogs

WordPress 3.0 has now downloaded over 30 million times. WordPress is a very popular blogging platform and adding new users very speedily. WordPress.com has added 4 million blogs in the last three months. The self-hosted version of WordPress is also very popular open-source blogging software and seven months ago they released the version 3.0.


According to most recent official stats the WordPress 3.0 download count hit 20 million a couple of months ago in October 2010 and now crossed to 30 million downloads means adding 10 million extra counts in just under three months. The year 2010 was best year to date for WordPress. WordPress.com went from 10 million blogs in early 2010 and 16.7 million blogs in December. 
The WordPress download counter on its website in above image at the time of this article written, shows that the software has been downloaded more than 30 million times that is not means that 30 million people have downloaded WordPress also it doesn't mean that there are 30 million WordPress blogs but surely WordPress is now more popular than ever. 
The total pageviews of WordPress.com for the year 2010 was 23 billion which up an impressive 53% from 2009. The media uploads also doubled to 94.5 terabytes of new photos and videos, while new posts were up 110% to 146 million. Mobile WordPress blogging was also increased 700% to 1.4 million in 2010.
