Fujitsu to Launch 7-inch Android Tablet Soon

Fujitsu is working on a 7-inch Android tablet for release later this year. The tablet is said to run on latest Android 3.1 version. Fujitsu will be outsourcing production to Taiwan-based ODMs for these tablets to maintain the cost.

As reported by DigiTimes, the company pointed out that the 7-inch Android-based tablet PC will target mainly the consumer market, unlike the LifeBook TH40/D, which is aiming for the enterprise market. The 7-inch model is expected to adopt the latest Android 3.1. The tablets will be target to low end customers and to offer such a price level, the company will outsource production of the device to Taiwan-based ODMs, which the company declined to reveal in any detail.

Fujitsu has recently launched its self-developed 10.1-inch LifeBook TH40/D tablet PC featuring Windows 7 in Japan, the US and Europe. As for its 10.1-inch LifeBook TH40/D, the company plans to add support for a stylus and 3.5G module in the future and when Fujitsu launches the LifeBook TH40/D in Taiwan, the model will already equip both features. The Android tablets by Fujitsu will come under a $350 - $700 price range.
