Twitter to launch its own photo sharing service and will announce at the D9 conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. The image sharing is very popular and specially on Facebook and Twitter now trying to go on same way. Previously we can share photos via third-party developers and apps and photo should be store else where.
According to news, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo will speak at D9 on Wednesday about the new service. Though currently aren't that many details on how the service will work. Currently Twitter users who wish to post photos in their tweets must upload them elsewhere. Users then include links to the photos within their tweets. Many Twitter clients, including those developed by the company, use the links to go fetch the images and display them inline. But the process could certainly be smoother.
But hopefully now users will be able to attach an image to their tweets which will then leave at a separate URL. Your tweet on Twitter.com will display the image inline and other clients will able to use other options like retweet, follow etc. Also Twitter may also use a URL shortener service to enable users to share the photo at any places of their choice
The services like Twitpic and ImageShack generate millions of dollars of revenue by selling advertising on the image pages that are distributed widely by those tweeted links. Now Twitter has serious about this revenue earn by other by adding photo-sharing features.
