After Reliance launched their 3G Tablet now Beetel Teletech, a Bharti Enterprises group company has launches its 7-inch 800×480 LCD display Android Tablet in India called the Magiq. The feature-rich Beetel Magiq tablet features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 2.2 OS and 8 GB of internal memory with expandable to 16 GB.
The other specifications of the tablet are 3G and WiFi connectivity along with the GSM calling support and a 2200 mAh battery. According to company, Magiq will be upgradable to Android 2.3 in the future. The tablet also comes pre-loaded with lots of application for social networking and other use.
Beetel is one of the largest makers of fixed-line phones in India. Bharti Airtel has launches this low cost tablet just after its rival Reliance Communications had launched a tablet priced at 12,999 rupees. Both are trying to grab the world's fastest-growing and second-largest mobile phone market. Almost 1.5-crore mobile phones are being sold in India every month, around 10 per cent of which are smartphones.
Beetel Teletech Executive Director and CEO Vinod Sawhny said: “Our tablet is not only about affordability but also about advanced features that were previously available in the high-end devices and not within the reach of the majority of Indian customers.” Stating that Beetel would introduce affordable and feature-rich mobile devices soon, including Android-based smartphones, Mr. Sawhny said: “Our design and development team is working on prototype devices which will change the landscape of the Indian mobile market. Sale of smartphones is gradually increasing and it will have an impact on the sales of tablets too”.
Beetel Magiq is being manufactured by China's Huawei Telecommunications and its a rebranded version of Huawei Ideos S7 tablet.
Beetel Magiq customers will enjoy free 3G data connectivity for both prepaid and postpaid connection with a limit of 2GB for 2 months from date of purchase. Airtel is providing bundles data plans with the tablet. It will be available in the stores from next week onward. The tablet will be available in the Indian market starting next week for a price of INR 9,999.
