New Android Trojan Records & Send Calls to Remote Server

A new type of Trojan has found out which able to recording user phone calls in Android smartphones. Its a malicious program which after installing able to record all of you conversations and can send them to a pre-define remote server. Such activities now increasing as fast the number of applications increasing for Android and its new target for cyber crime.

This new Trojan discovered by Security experts at CA Technologies. The company had earlier discovered a Trojan capable of logging user call history and duration on a '.txt' file. Once you have installed this application on the device, the Trojan activates itself and silently records all of your incoming and outgoing conversation. It record them in a low quality ‘.amr’ audio format and store them on the Micro SD card. 

According to the researchers at CA Technologies, "We have been recently blogging about many Android malware as the threat landscape has been witnessing an increasing trend in targeting the mobile platforms and today we have received an Android package to our collection and observed that this piece of malware walks an additional mile by having a neat configuration and has a capability to record the telephonic conversation the infected victim makes. This Trojan is more advanced as it records the conversation itself in “amr” format. Also it has got many other malicious activities that we have seen in many of the earlier malware incidents targeted for Android platform."

The application does not require to be started by the user and when you make or receive a call, it automatically starts application and enables recording and storing of the conversations on the phone's memory card. All the conversation data gets stored in a directory called Shangzhou/callrecord in the memory card. So be aware while installing unknown apps from untrustworthy source.
