We hoped for iPhone 5 but Apple announced iPhone 4S today.The new iPhone features dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, 14.4 HSPA+, up to 64 GB storage and a Retina display in same design but what it mean in term of competition with Android.
Though overall its not very impressive specification of new iPhone 4S. The new iPhone has a unclear A5 dual-core processor but these day its common in Android phones to have better dual-core processors. For exp LG Optimus Q2 powered with NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, or Samsung Galaxy S2 has ARM Cortex A9 Exynos dual-core 1.2GHz processor. Also the upcoming Google Nexus Prime will suppose to feature a dual-core CPU and very soon NVIDIA to launch a quad-core processors. Hence we can say that in term of process Android is far ahead to iPhone.
The screen of smartphone is matter a lot and new iPhone 4S features a 3.5-inch Retina display with 960 x 640 pixel resolution at 326 ppi. Retina display is one year old now and we've far better display technology then this. Android has much better display available in market. The Samsung Galaxy S II has 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen technology with 217 ppi and resolution of 480 x 800. Also upcoming Google Nexus Prime will feature a Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 resolution and 320ppi.
Now talk about camera section, Apple has put a 8 megapixel camera with 1080p HD videos recording. Apple is claiming that the iPhone 4S is better than “other smartphones” when it comes to camera quality because they implemented camera technologies like the Video stabilization courtesy of the accelerometer and better noise cancellation. Now compare to Android, also available phones with 8MP, for exp, the Samsung Galaxy S2 features an 8-megapixel camera with HD videos of up to 1080p. Also Samsung to release a 16 megapixel smartphone camera soon.
Connectivity matter at all! New iPhone 4S is the fastest iPhone with support HSPA+ up to 14.4Mbps down, and 5.8Mbps up. Its fasted for iPhone but very regular for Android. Most of new Android device released features upto 21Mbps download speed. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is supports HSPA+ with 21Mbps download speed and 5.76Mbps upload. The iPhone 4S is a CDMA/GSM phone or a world phone, while Samsung is offering GSM and CDMA Galaxy S II.
Come to storage department. All iPhone comes with fixed storage but Android devices offer expandable storage. For exp Samsung Galaxy S II supports MicroSD card slot, in case of 16GB model, user can upgrade the storage to 48GB using memory card. But with Apple you've fixed memory models. New iPhone 4S has 3 models, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Android gives you freedom to choose how much internal storage you want and get a microSD card for more storage. Expending using microSD card is very cheap then to going a iPhone of large memory.
The cost is also matter at all. The iPhone 4S will be available from October 14 On AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. Pre-order from the Apple Online Store from October 7 and in Apple Retail Stores from October 14. The iPhone 4S with 16GB will be available at price of $199.99. The 32GB model cost you $299.99 and 64GB model cost $399.99. You can get a quality Android phone in same of lower price, for exp Samsung Galaxy S II 16GB model available at price of $199.99.
