Symbian Anna Now Available for Download for Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7: How to Update

Its great for all owners of Symbian^3 based mobile phones. Nokia has made the Symbian Anna operating system version available for download for their devices for free from today. If you owned Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7 smartphones, you will receive the update. Symbian Anna will significantly enhance the user experience on those phones.

Right now more than 17 countries across Europe and Asia will first receive the update and others will later. The countries are Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, UAE and UK. Other countries will get new software update in coming weeks.

Whats in This New Symbian Anna OS:
The new Symbian Anna update will bring a new user interface, virtual Qwerty keypad in portrait mode, split-screen messaging, enhanced Nokia Maps, better web browsing and stronger security. According to Mr. Ilari Nurmi, vice president at Nokia, India, "Symbian Anna represents a significant update to the experience those users have and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Symbian, which will see up to 10 more phones introduced over the next 12 months, further updates to the user experience and support for the software until at least 2016."
Easy to Input: There’s a portrait QWERTY keyboard for fast, single-handed typing. Typing on the touchscreen will be much easier with a split screen, so you can see message threads, webpages, contacts or email view while typing on the virtual Qwerty keypad now also available in portrait mode.
Browser Made Better: The update would bring a faster, easier-to-use browser, which according to Nokia, would deliver quicker page loads and improved device navigation allowing people to connect more easily to their favorite sites on the go.
Enhanced Maps and navigation: Nokia Ovi Maps will be enhanced with better search functionality, new public transportation routes and the ability to check-in to favorite geo-social network sites like Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter, the company has claimed. It also includes public transport routes. And you can check in to social networks, send emails and SMS messages sharing your location.
Better for Business: For security, Symbian Anna brings improved data encryption for Nokia smartphones. Business users with a Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01 or Nokia E7 can now easily and securely access their company intranet with IPSEC and SSL VPN enablers.
Near-Field Communications(NFC): Symbian Anna also activates the NFC hardware in the Nokia C7, so people can now simply tap their Nokia C7s together to share contacts, photos, videos and play games; easily pair with NFC-enabled accessories from Nokia and others; and read NFC tags to check-in and more.

How to Upgrade My Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7 to New Symbian Anna:
The new Symbian Anna software update will be pushed to handsets through Ovi Suite on the PC or via the OTA (over the air) SW update app on the mobile phone. You can download the latest version 3.1.1 of this Nokia OVI Suite application Here.
Also Symbian Anna can be downloaded by visiting the nearest Nokia Care or Nokia Priority Dealer. Just walk to the nearest Nokia Care Center or Nokia Priority Partner for a free, easy and convenient upgrade.

From the list of available updates, choose what you’d like to install.

2. Update Using Your Phone: Start the software updates. Select Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone Updates.
Select any available updates you want to install. To download, follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip: You can set your device to alert you when new software updates are available.
Select Menu > Applications > SW Updates. Select Options > Settings > Auto-check for updates. Select On and OK.
